Sæfari is the artist name of Icelandic singer-songwriter Atli Guðmundsson. Sæfari means seafarer, and although Atli has never been involved with any actual maritime work, his creative process involves diving long and deep into the ocean within, bringing his music back with him to the surface to share with the people.
Wolfheart, Sæfari’s debut album was released in 2024, containing 11 songs from the deep, including the singles, True Love, Ice Queen, Giver and of course the titlesong of the album, Wolfheart. Sæfari teamed up with renowned Icelandic musician and producer, Sigurður Guðmundsson from Hjálmar, along with some top-tier musicians of Iceland’s vibrant music scene, to add color and texture to the music and the result was a tonally diverse, yet cohesive collection of songs exploring universal human experiences with a deeply personal lense.
Since the release of the album, Sæfari has been experimenting with playing live, never with the same group of musicians on stage with him, in search for the Sæfari live sound. Sæfari’s second album is also well underway and is expected to be released in the early months of 2027.
