I can't stop thinking about our beautiful off-venue in Djúpið last week. No sound system, no gimmicks, just a handful of singer-songwriters coming together to share some songs. Raw and unfiltered. The emotions cut through the air like a blade and the audience was right there with us, one song at a time.
First, I had the joy of supporting my friend Mario Infantes, arranging his music for the acoustic setting for a few songs from his new album Bitacore. With his mesmerizing handpan and naturally raw vocals, he set the tone perfectly — the audience was spellbound from the start.
Then came my new friend, Aevy Lore, with her delicate voice and piano playing that fit this stripped setting so beautifully. I’d supported her before but this time it felt especially magical — her open-hearted melodies and lyrics found their perfect home in that intimate space.
For my set, I was joined by the violin magician Karl Pestka, and Aevy Lore returned to lend her sweet, soft backing vocals. I was in heaven for a while — especially during "Mama”, one of my new songs, when they harmonized backing vocals on the spot. Pure magic.
The night closed with my dear friend Gabi, playing her first-ever gig in Iceland. Her riffs, voice and songs were absolutely hypnotic — a masterclass in the beauty of simplicity.
But the magic didn’t end there. My friend Anthe, sitting beside me in the audience, spontaneously asked if she could play — and delivered two stunning songs on the piano that left everyone speechless. Then, another audience member, Garmune, stepped forward and graced us with a heartfelt song on my nylon-string guitar, ending the night with a perfect touch of intimacy and spontaneity.
I was glowing with gratitude and energy after this unforgettable evening — a night I’ll revisit in my memories again and again (and now 🤭).
